Love Me Like Candy is in The Cooler...

...starring Alec Baldwin and William H Macey, AND on the soundtrack CD. This soundtrack features Diana Krall, Joey Fatone and Bobby Caldwell, and has been getting rave reviews…and so has Love Me Like Candy.

"The first song is 'Candy' (aka Love Me Like Candy) by Rebecca Kyler Downs… this is a sensational big band swing anthem, playfully sensual, smoky and filled with lustful longings. Not only is this a fine song which had it been written 50 years ago would now be considered a standard, but it receives a glorious performance by Ms Downs..."
- Gary Dalkin, Editor: Film Music On The Web

"I dug the contemporary jazz sound in the songs, especially the torch style jazz song Candy with Rebecca Kyler Downs. Her voice is sexy and the lyrics are cool…"

"Il n'est pas nécessaire d'avoir vu le film pour apprécier le disque. C'est bon, c'est jazz, les interprétations de Rebecca Kyler Downs et Diana Krall sont très belles. Il n'y a absolument rien de négatif à dire sur ce disque qui vous fera passer un agréable, un très agréable moment.

Rebecca is currently writing a new CD, collaborating with Rick Rossi (late of The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Bobby Caldwell and Bobby Womack) on several new songs. She hopes to start recording it by the end of the year.

Gig News

She recently returned from Hawaii, where she was singing the fabulous, 60’s-styled, Euro-tinged music of the Euro-Tones, led by JP Monche. …and speaking of exotic locations she also recently sang with The Rick Rossi Jazz Quartet, kicking off the maiden voyage of the Princess Line’s newest, biggest and most luxurious boat EVER!. The entire boat is exquisitely designed in the fashion of the luxury liners of the 1930’s. She worked with keyboard player Wally Minko, drummer Johnny Friday and bass player Dell Atkins along with sax player Rick Rossi – quite the line-up!

At least one night a month you can catch her singing at the Harbor House in Marina del Rey while a 1940’s murder mystery takes place. Broadcast live (with a few exceptions) from the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, Who Killed the Radio Show? is filled with music, murder, mayhem and a meal, as you re-live the days of live radio dramas. You will find a link to it on her links page.

February found her in Texas singing with her old friends, Red Young and Dina Bennett, as Red and The Redhots made several appearances in local jazz clubs as well as country clubs. Red Young is permanently in Texas now (except for when he goes on tour – really what musician ever stays put for long?) and has several new musical ensembles – most notably his Blues/Hammond Organ thang called the Red Young Quartet.

She has been singing periodically with Pete Jacobs’ Wartime Review and the Pete Jacobs Quintet, enjoying those periodic returns to old-time swing at its best. You’ll find a link to his website on the links page should you be looking for a great band to lindy to.

She shot an episode on Tom Sizemore's shortlived series Roberry Homicide Division LA, and as you can see she got to work with some great actors
